Yes, you read that right! I’m currently working on a Dutch translation of Take Me Back to Inisheer — by popular demand!
This is something I’m really excited about, and if I’m being completely honest, it’s a little surreal too. When I first started writing Take Me Back to Inisheer, I never imagined that one day I’d be working on bringing the story in another language.
But here we are!
I’ve had so many lovely messages and requests from Dutch readers asking if Take Me Back to Inisheer would ever be available in Dutch, and eventually I had to listen! So, the Dutch translation is now officially underway.
Of course, translating a book is a whole new adventure in itself. It isn’t simply a matter of changing the words from English into Dutch. There are little phrases, jokes, emotions and those tiny details that make a character sound like themselves. I want to make sure that the heart of the story comes across just as it does in the original.
And then there’s Inisheer itself.
One of the things I love most about Take Me Back to Inisheer is that the island is almost a character in its own right. I hope that comes through just as strongly in the Dutch version — the Atlantic, the ferries, the island life, the humour, the romance and, of course, all the chaos that comes with it!
My hope is to have the Dutch translation ready by the end of the year. There’s still plenty to do between now and then, so I don’t want to promise an exact date just yet, but I’ll be working away at it.
And yes, there will be updates!
Through my socials, I’ll keep you posted on everything that’s going on — from the translation process and little behind-the-scenes moments to, eventually, news about when the Dutch edition will be available.

Thank you to everyone who has asked, encouraged, shared and generally made me realise that there really is an appetite for a Dutch version of the story.
